Cynthia earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing with honors from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she was a member of the international nursing honor society, Sigma Theta Tau. She practiced nursing in a wide range of specialties in multiple settings over a number of years.
She returned to graduate school and earned a Masters of Science in Communication Disorders from the University of New Hampshire. She completed her Clinical Fellowship year in a pediatric setting and continues to focus on supporting children with communication challenges. Cynthia worked in the Stoneham school system with preschoolers, and has served as the speech pathologist for Boxford’s Spofford Pond Elementary School (Grades 3-6). Since starting her private practice, the Boxford school system has retained her contract services.
Previously, she was invited to Washington DC to consult on the future plans and policies of The Family Center on Technology and Disability (part of the Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP)). She is a member of the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and the American Academy of Private Practice and Speech Pathology (AAPPSPA). In addition, she belongs to the several ASHA special interest groups including : Neurophysiology and Neurogenic Speech and Language Disorders, Fluency and Fluency Disorders, School-based Issues, and Language Learning and Education. Cynthia is a recipient of the ASHA Award for Continuing Education (ACE).
